Pruvenza 2017 is a wine with enormous potential. Frappato, a native grape variety that has always been produced in the Vittoria area, has the project of clearing the chiché which imagines it to be a wine to be drunk within the year.
On the nose, hints of red fruits and excellent drinkability, but also greater complexity and thickness than is usually found in the type.
To be paired with red meat dishes, cured meats and medium and long-aged cheeses. Try it on a tuna steak.

Tax includedFrappato is a wine to be discovered, a wine with enormous potential. It is a native vine, recently rediscovered and always produced in the Vittoria area. And on the Frappato Paolo Calì immediately bet on it and in 2015 he wanted to experiment with a vinification in barrique of the whole grapes to emancipate this wine from the conception that it is a wine to be drunk within the year. And Pruvenza was born.
Pruvenza is the local name for the mistral wind that blows from the northwest, bringing atmospheric instability. It wants to express the link of this red with its places of origin.
The wine is extraordinarily fragrant and elegant.
The vine is very tidy, grows straight and proud, without needing the support of the wire. The bunch is compact, winged, to be carefully monitored during the ripening stage to prevent humidity from settling there. The vineyards from which the Frappato grapes come are managed in such a way as to have a low yield, 40 quintals per hectare. Fermentation takes place in wood. The aging is carried out in French oak barrels for about 14 months.
In the glass the wine is limpid, with a slightly dull ruby red color. It is fine and variegated on the nose with wild strawberries, red currants, citrus fruits, a floral touch and a delicate spiciness. The taste is fresh, fairly structured, savory, balanced and provided with soft tannins. Great presence of fruit on the palate and gradual finish with notes of black pepper. It has excellent drinkability, but also greater complexity and thickness than is usually found in the type. It can be paired with not too elaborate dishes based on red meats, rabbit alla cacciatora, cured meats and medium and long-aged cheeses, to be tried on a cut of tuna.
