The cultivation of this multiclonal variety, widespread in the Tavoliere di Capitanata, dates back to the fifteenth century, following the introduction, by the Aragonese, of ecotypes from Spain, but according to other sources it would have an older origin and would be a native variety derived from the "Orchites" cultivated by the Romans.
Medium height plant with medium thick foliage; it has rising branches and pendulous fruit-bearing branches.
The fruit, with medium and alternating production, is characterized by a large size, consistent and fibrous pulp, with a very high yield (70-85%). Harvesting usually takes place after mid-October.
