Kumquats, also known as Chinese mandarins or fortunellas, are small oval-shaped citrus fruits 3 or 4 centimeters long that grow mainly in China, Japan and Florida. In Italy they grow and bear fruit in Liguria and Sicily.
All our candied kumquats are produced using exclusively kumquats grown in Sicily.
The Chinese mandarins are candied by Master Pastry Chef Giulio of Capo d'Orlando with the classic Italian method, this method takes twenty days to naturally reach the optimal level of candying. After the candying process, the small kumquats are stored in their candy liquid in elegant glass jars.
Candied kumquats as well as being suitable for pastry use, for your homemade cakes, are also excellent as an accompaniment to cheeses. Finally, eaten at the end of a meal instead of fruit, they become an excellent dessert to end a dinner or lunch on a sweet note.
