Feudo Montoni Vrucara Nero d'Avola 2017 DOC Sicilia
Vrucara - Nero d'Avola Prephyloxxera
"Vrucara is the name of the cru from which the grapes come. The name originates from a vineyard whose land has always been called "Vrucara". It takes this name because the vruca is widely present, in Sicilian it is the name of a bush that spontaneously grows around the vineyard. This herb with a mentholated scent mixed with incense oil. "Transferred" into the ancient vine plants, unique, characteristics that we find later in the wine."
The Vrucara is the label that is a bit the symbol of this winery, which comes from old prephyloxxera vines.

FEUDO MONTONI - VRUCARA NERO D'AVOLA 2017
This Vrucara is a Nero d'Avola that grows in a parcel from which the wine takes its name, "vruca", which in Sicilian dialect indicates that type of bushes that grow spontaneously around the vineyard, and which are distinguished by the characteristic aromas of mint which can then be found in the wine.
The vines are "prephyloxxera" vines, which therefore give further value to this bottle.
The grapes, according to the tradition of this winery, are harvested manually, after which, after a soft pressing, the must is fermented in a cement container with a long maceration in contact with the skins.
The wine is then aged for 42 months in cement, for 4 months in barrels, and for a further 6 months in the bottle.
This Nero d'Avola has a brilliant ruby red color to the eye, the nose is very intense and eprsistente with earthy aromas, notes of red plum and berries, which are combined with notes of rose petals, notes of vanilla and balsamic notes of eucalyptus and licorice.
On the other hand, it is very soft and velvety on the palate, with a balanced acidity and soft and balanced tannins. It has a prolonged aromatic persistence on the aftertaste.
This red is excellent to combine with platters of cured meats and aged cheeses or with meat main courses.
