Produced from ancient Prefillosseric vineyards, about 130 years old, this wine represents the pride of the Terre Nere estate. The Nerello Mascalese grapes give Prephilloxera a supernatural finesse also thanks to the presence of volcanic soils with a high percentage of pumice stone mixed with basalt. A more timid wine that needs more time to be best enjoyed, it is therefore advisable to decant it before drinking it.

Denomination: Etna Rosso D.O.C.

First vintage produced: 2006

Production area: Calderara district, Randazzo municipality (Catania)

Grape Variety: 98% Nerello Mascalese, 2% Nerello Cappuccino

Vineyard area: 1 ha

Yield per hectare: 3-3.5 tons / ha

Soil characteristics: volcanic, shallow, very rich in skeleton, traces of ash

Exposure: north side of Etna at 600 meters above sea level
