The "Fausta Mansio" of Olaf Consiglio is a small farm that extends over a property of 10 hectares, organically cultivated with olive groves and vineyards.

Moscato di Siracusa was one of the first Sicilian wines to obtain the D.O.C in 1973.

In the following years, however, due to a strong economic crisis that loomed in the area and a consequent real production inability on the part of the companies in the sector, the latter were forced to almost totally eradicate the existing vineyards to replace them with new citrus groves, considered more profitable at the time.

But Fausta Mansio, anticipating the legislation that establishes the loss of the D.O.C. in the absence of production for a period of over 40 years, at the end of the 90s he decided to bet on the potential of our native vineyard and to replant the Moscato di Siracusa, in order to recover one of the most significant traditions of our province, bottling the first production in 2001.

The Fausta Mansio farm is located in one of the most beautiful valleys of Syracuse, the Val d'Anapo, known in ancient times for the presence of papyrus and an area particularly suited to quality viticulture.

The location of its vineyards on gently hilly terrain, about 50 m above sea level, allows the sea breezes to reach the bunches and give them those particular characteristics that distinguish Moscato di Siracusa from others.

The soil on which the vineyard stands is of a purely clayey nature and this has allowed a perfect adaptation of the plant, thus managing to obtain valuable grapes. Add to this an extremely favorable climatic condition, with average summer temperatures around 30 ° C which allow a harvest, towards the end of August, of well-ripened grapes.
