Perfect Pairings Gift Box - Donnafugata

Donnafugata Play & Sip Gift Box: Signature Wines and Board Game

Experiencing Sicily means immersing oneself in a culture made of intense flavors, intoxicating aromas, and moments of pure sharing that remain etched in memory. This exclusive "Perfect Pairings" Donnafugata Play & Sip gift box is not just a tribute to the island's extraordinary winemaking wealth, but represents a truly interactive experience designed to bring people together. Imagine an afternoon outdoors or an evening with friends, where the ancient ritual of uncorking a bottle blends naturally with smiles and a playful challenge. This is exactly the vibrant soul of this project, where wine becomes the pivot around which laughter and unforgettable stories revolve.

Origin and craftsmanship: a journey through the vineyards

The oenological journey proposed by this careful selection crosses two territories that are symbols of high-end Sicilian viticulture. The path begins in the Ragusa area, a land of elegant reds, which gives us Contesa dei Venti, a prized Nero d'Avola boasting the Vittoria Doc appellation, presented in the 2023 vintage. Immediately after, the tasting ideally moves us to central-western Sicily to discover La Fuga, an extraordinary Chardonnay from the renowned Contessa Entellina Doc, presented in the 2025 vintage. The company's artisanal care extends with equal dedication to the container. The packaging is made of a sturdy shaped cardboard box, originally designed with a brilliant "creative recycling idea". This approach allows the structure not to end its function with transport, but to transform into a real stage for conviviality.

Sensory profile: two souls compared

Tasting the two wines included in the box offers a fascinating contrast of aromas and palate sensations, impeccably representing two different yet incredibly complementary souls of the Sicilian land. The Vittoria Doc Nero d'Avola acts as a spokesperson for the strength of its terroir of origin, releasing an ample, enveloping, and complex bouquet in the glass, perfect for those seeking a structured, warm, deep, and highly smooth sip. On the other hand, the Contessa Entellina Doc Chardonnay provides a luminous and sunny tasting experience, characterized by vibrant freshness, marked minerality, and fragrant fruity notes that caress the palate with incredible harmony. Together, these two magnificent 750 ml bottles guarantee a complete sensory proposal, capable of satisfying the most demanding tastes and accompanying the most pleasant conversations with elegance and style.

Usage tips and gastronomic pairings

To maximize the tasting experience and fully enhance the characteristics of these wines, we suggest pairing them with dishes that celebrate true island tradition. La Fuga Chardonnay is exceptional when accompanied by a gourmet crouton spread with a delicate yellow cherry tomato preserve, or alongside a risotto creamed with Bronte pistachio pesto and prawns. The Contesa dei Venti Nero d'Avola, with its decisive body, calls for more rustic flavors: try it with a sweet and sour eggplant caponata, or serve it alongside a rich board of aged cheeses and Nebrodi cured meats. But the real usage tip concerns the after-dinner moment: once the wine is poured into the glasses, open the package that magically transforms into a game board. Take out the included small box with 40 cards and let the challenge begin. Turn the cards, play with others, and find the unforgettable pairs of Donnafugata illustrations, for a moment of pure and simple fun.
