Adènzia Red – Nero d’Avola and Syrah DOC Sicilia

Adènzia Rosso by Baglio del Cristo di Campobello is a DOC Sicilia red born from the meeting of Nero d’Avola and Syrah: two grapes that, as the label says, combine “into something of greater value than the sum of their parts”.

The name comes from the Sicilian expression “dare adènzia”, meaning to listen and pay attention: a reference to deep bonds and true understanding, the very soul of this wine.

Territory and winemaking

The grapes grow on the hills of Campobello di Licata, inland from Agrigento, on deep, mainly calcareous soils between 230 and 260 metres above sea level. Grapes are hand-picked into small crates. Traditional red vinification follows, with 15-20 days of skin maceration at controlled temperature, around ten months in large French oak casks and at least twelve months of bottle ageing.

Tasting profile

In the words of winemaker Riccardo Cotarella: “A very wide-ranging spectrum of aromas, with notes of sour cherries and forest fruits, together with delicious hints of vanilla. Caressing and spicy, with firm but graceful tannins.” A wine with good ageing potential.

Food pairing and serving

Ideal with rich first courses such as tagliatelle with sausage ragù, with meat dishes (pork fillet, Sicilian-style rabbit) and cheeses.
