POPPY SEEDS

Poppy seeds are very aromatic and fragrant, because they contain many essential oils, and are used above all to season and give a particular flavor to dishes.

They were also well known in ancient times. The Romans in particular used them to give flavor to many dishes and also considered them as powerful aphrodisiacs, while the Gauls squeezed them to make oil.

Poppy seeds are usually black or white, but unlike other seeds, the color does not change their properties in any way. They also do not give particular allergy problems.

But what makes them really important is the fact that they contain a real mine of nutritional elements that are beneficial for the health and well-being of the organism, for example:

-Control of cholesterol and the cardiovascular system: omega 6 fatty acids, oleic acid and potassium help keep bad LDL cholesterol levels in the blood low, in favor of the good one. This effect also benefits the heart and circulatory system.

-Bone health: poppy seeds contain very high levels of calcium (more than 1400 mg per 100 g of product), which makes them a valid ally to keep teeth and bones healthy, especially in periods in which this element decreases, as during menopause.

- Promote metabolism: the abundant presence of B vitamins helps digestion and the correct assimilation of fats and proteins. Vegetable fibers, on the other hand, help regulate intestinal activity

- Antioxidant properties: the huge amount of manganese and the presence of vitamins C and E help to slow down cellular aging and the appearance of free radicals.

-Fight anxiety and stress: they contain alkaloid substances, which have a slight relaxing effect on the nervous system and promote relaxation and sleep.
