Primo sale cheese with fresh rocket
Canestrati Cheeses are dairy products that bring with them the art of Sicilian artisanal dairy production. Thanks to their unique flavour, which in this Primo Sale is given by the union of the creaminess of sheep's milk with the sweetness of whole almonds.
It is one of the oldest dairy preparations produced on the island. Produced with sheep's and cow's milk, Primo Sale is a low-mature cheese and for this reason it is still slightly soft and has a pleasant flavour.
In this version it is enriched with fresh rocket which gives this soft paste of this Primo Sale cheese a delicious aromatic and spicy flavour.
Its color tends towards straw yellow, the flavor is sweet and fragrant. The consistency is of soft paste.
Whole, medium-sized wheels can weigh 1 to 2 kg. On Gocce di Sicilia it is possible to purchase it in vacuum-packed pieces from 250 to 600 grams.
Our cheese is handcrafted using ancient methods and milk from farms in eastern Sicily.
Typical cheese of Sicilian recipes, it is very versatile in the kitchen. It can be consumed as a table cheese or to flavor other dishes, both cooked and raw. Excellent to use, for example, in the preparation of baked pasta, meatballs, rice balls or meat rolls.
