Tabacchiera peach, also called platicarpa (flat-bodied) or flat, is a common cultivar of peach in Sicily, especially in the eastern part. From the flattened shape like a snuffbox (crushed container where the tobacco was once preserved) and with a typical intense and sweet taste, it has a soft and very fragrant pulp. It is known to be of superior quality than the most common spherical peaches, with respect to which it has a higher sugar content.
Excellent to enjoy for breakfast or as a snack on a slice of bread or on a nice toast.
Ideal for preparing homemade desserts, for filling sponge cakes or for your delicious tarts.
