DONNAFUGATA, EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL FROM CULTIVAR TONDA IBLEA - 50 CL

The selection of Donnafugata Oils is enriched with a special novelty: the Extra Vergine Tonda Iblea, a small, prestigious production from the Vittoria estate obtained from the homonymous native cultivar typical of this area.

Tonda Iblea typically grows in the eastern area of ​​the island. In particular, the area of ​​greatest diffusion of this type of tree is represented by the provinces of Messina, Catania and Syracuse tonda iblea (but its presence has also been recorded in the Trapani and Agrigento areas), where it is also known by the synonyms of Giarraffa, Alimena, Bruscarinu, Caloria, Prunara, Tonda Nera and Vitriolo. Used indifferently for table consumption and for the production and sale of extra virgin olive oil, the Tonda Iblea finds its ideal habitat in the hilly areas up to a maximum of about 600 meters above sea level, and is therefore a very temperature resistant cultivar. cold.

Furthermore, this makes it rather difficult for fly attacks to occur and makes it possible to avoid resorting to pesticides, thus preserving the quality of the product unaltered. Resistance to Mal del Piombo and Cotonello is also very good.

A superior category olive oil is born, obtained directly from olives, through a cold extraction process and solely by mechanical processes.

Donnafugata's Tonda Iblea oil is bright green-gold in color; the nose is distinguished by its intense fruitiness, with evident hints of green tomato followed by notes of fresh aromatic herbs, artichoke and freshly cut grass. On the palate it is intense fruity, with an excellent balance between bitter and spicy; a full-bodied, enveloping and harmonious oil.

Extra Vergine Tonda Iblea is excellent on boiled and grilled vegetables, on meats, and perfectly enhances the dishes of Mediterranean cuisine.
