The Dott. Lorenzo Mirabito farm is located in Malfa, on the Island of Salina, a place characterized by particularly fertile and mineral-rich soils of volcanic origin and a temperate climate influenced by the sea which contributes to the reduction of thermal excursions and increase in humidity.
These characteristics make Salina the greenest of the Aeolian islands, particularly suited to agriculture and the first place in the world where capers, typically spontaneous plants, have been grown.
The Dr. Lorenzo Mirabito farm has been cultivating and producing capers and cucunci on its land for more than fifty years, respecting the traditions and principles of organic farming, using only natural fertilizers and in the total absence of chemical fertilizers
The company is registered in the Register of Producers of Capers and Cucunci of the Aeolian Islands PDO, held by the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of the Sicilian Region as delegated by the MAAFF and, following the prescriptions of the D.O.P. open field, they are annually subjected to control by the institutions in charge in relation to their number and their production capacity.

The geographical isolation of the island has influenced, for centuries, the culture and the local agricultural tradition, allowing the development of autonomous traditions different from those widespread on the continent but which have favored the selection of caper cultivars, unique and typical of Salina, an island in which the care and history of this wonderful plant are handed down from generation to generation, giving rise to a native caper, which stands out from all the others grown both in the other Aeolian islands and in the other Sicilian islands, known to be the best for texture, fragrance, taste, size and pulp.
The uniqueness of the Salina caper and cucuncio, which are characterized by their compactness, aroma and uniformity, has also been officially recognized by the European Community which, in April 2020, recognized the D.O.P. to the capers of the Aeolian Islands.
In this splendid environmental setting, the Dr. Lorenzo Mirabito farm has been cultivating and producing capers and cucunci on its land for more than fifty years, respecting the traditions and principles of organic farming, using only natural fertilizers and in the total absence of chemical fertilizers

The Dr. Lorenzo Mirabito farm is, to date, the only farm on the Island of Salina registered with the D.O.P.
