In this typical sweet of the Sicilian confectionery tradition, pieces of lemon dough (called pine cones), baked or fried meet a double glaze: white and chocolate, which is what distinguishes the Pignolata Messinese from the simpler version with honey. .

It is mainly made in the period between Christmas and Carnival, however, in some of the small artisan workshops scattered around Sicily, it is possible to find it all year round, so as not to have to wait even a day to enjoy this delight.
