Duca Nero, the Sparkling wine of Duca di Salaparuta and the Vajasindi Estate

On the slopes of Etna, in a complex area, to which the soil of volcanic origin gives it unique characteristics, Duca di Salaparuta has chosen the Vajasindi Estate, in the hamlet of Passopisciaro, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. The estate consists of 21 hectares of land divided into two terraces, the first at about 700 meters above sea level and the second and third at 620 meters above sea level.

Here Duca di Salaparuta decided to experience the difficulties of mountain agriculture, favoring greater healthiness of the land over simplicity, with the aim of minimizing interventions in the vineyard. The position of the Estate, in the northern area of ​​the Volcano, determines a unique microclimate which makes it an area particularly suited for the cultivation of red grape varieties.

The choice of these territories was made by the Duca di Salaparuta technicians taking into account the current climate changes and relevant factors such as excellent ventilation, adequate water drainage capacity and a good temperature range.

A real oenological challenge was accepted by Duca di Salaparuta who, on the slopes of the Volcano, decided to produce a pure Pinot Noir: Sciaranèra, vinified with grapes grown in the lower part of the Estate. But not only that, Duca Nero is also born in Vajasindi, the new Pinot Nero sparkling with the Charmat method, which combines elegance and freshness on the nose with a palate in which a unique minerality stands out.

With a very pale straw color with clear greenish reflections, this sparkling wine is excellent for any occasion, from fresh aperitifs to delicious shellfish and seafood dishes.

MATURATION: From the second fermentation it is cradled for more than six months in an autoclave on its lees

AGING: After bottling, a month is spent in the temperature-controlled cellar in the bottle for the development of the bouquet
