Opera Unica by Donnafugata, an unusual and surprising Chardonnay

Opera Unica is the result of a small production of just over 6,000 bottles.

It is the fruit of Chardonnay grapes, and has a yellow color with some golden reflections. The nose opens with a very broad bouquet that tastes of yellow pulp fruit, candied citrus fruits, saffron, ginger and chestnut honey.

It surprises on the palate thanks to a strong acidity and a savory finish.

It is a Sicilian wine of great depth, very deep and persistent, with pieces that make up a mosaic of harmony and elegance.

Opera Unica, a wine that surprises and conquers, with a great history

Opera Unica was born in Contessa Entellina, where Donnafugata was born, in the places of the Leopard.

It is the fruit of craftsmanship that has a continuous eye on innovation, its Chardonnay grapes were harvested in 2018 and were an exception that Donnafugata has expertly interpreted, giving life to a Chardonnay wine never produced before, with a unique and surprising style , the result of a small quality production of only 6,574 bottles.

Its grapes have enjoyed the classic Mediterranean climate, with dry and windy summers, and with the classic temperature variations between day and night.

Opera Unica is a Sicilian wine that has a yellow color with golden and coppery reflections and has a very particular and surprising organoleptic profile. On the nose it presents an extraordinarily broad bouquet that tastes of ripe yellow pulp fruit, candied citrus fruits, saffron, ginger, chestnut honey and beeswax.

On the palate, Opera Unica surprises and conquers as a dry wine, with a marked acidity and a savory finish. A wine rich in extracts, of great thickness, depth and persistence, with many pieces that ultimately make up a mosaic of harmony and elegance.

Wine that is enhanced when paired with food, ideal with sushi, mushroom-based dishes, white meats. Also worth trying with bottarga and semi-mature cheeses.

To best appreciate its organoleptic richness, it should not be served too cold, but at 12-14 °C.

LABEL

The label is a wonderful work by the artist Stefano Vitale, which tells the personality and elegance of Opera Unica. The protagonist is a woman mysteriously wrapped in a mosaic cloak rich in colors, shapes and decorations that symbolize the many organoleptic nuances of this wine. Opera Unica is in the glass that she treasures like a precious possession. The name recalls a small family reserve marketed 30 years ago. Now this name returns to celebrate another truly unique and unrepeatable wine, due to the climatic conditions from which it was born and the characteristics that distinguish it.
