A nativity inside the panettone

A traditional panettone with raisins flavoured with Marsala and Zibibbo and, in the same red box, a nativity scene of figures in white chocolate and nougat, plus a sachet of icing sugar: Fiasconaro's Dolce Presepe weighs 1.7 kg in all. For a traditional panettone made just down the road from us, there is the one by Giulio, a pastry chef in Capo d'Orlando. Ingredients Panettone: Soft wheat flour, raisin (14%), butter, sugar, candied orange peel from fresh (10%) (orange peel, glucose-fructose syrup, sugar), fresh barn eggs (10%), fresh barn egg yolk (5%), natural yeast (soft wheat flour), wine “Marsala PDO” (1,7%), Sicilian honey, orange paste (orange peel, sugar, glucose syrup, lemon juice), invert sugar syrup, emulsifier: mono‐and diglycerides of fatty acids, “Terre Siciliane Zibibbo liquoroso PGI”(0,4%), cocoa butter, skimmed milk powder, salt, vanilla. Granulated sugar. May contain soy, nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pistachio), lupin, mustard.
