Ancient Sicilian stone mill from the 18th century

Located in Longi, a small mountain town nestled on a natural terrace inside the Nebrodi Park at 620 meters above sea level and on the slopes of the mighty Rocche del Crasto, the Antico Mulino a Pietra is an 18th century plant that the young local entrepreneur Mirko Lazzara has been managing since 2009, choosing to invest in the area. Since then he has been in charge of his management full time and with great professionalism.

The mill is composed of two French stone millstones (much harder than granite with almost no wear) dating back to the eighteenth century, the best that can exist.

It is one of the few milling plants in the world that fully respects and preserves the beneficial properties of the grain of wheat.

Unlike modern industrial mills, the millstones of the stone mills do not cause the grain of wheat to overheat during the grinding process so that it is possible to obtain flours with a high content of pure fiber, vitamins, proteins and mineral salts.
