undisputed icon of the excellence of Tuscan wine
Brunello di Montalcino wines from Tenuta Il Greppo of Biondi Santi have fascinated wine lovers all over the world. In central Tuscany, south of Siena, to be precise, in this settled part of the region, a hill suddenly rose from anonymity that stretched from Arbia to the Ombrone river
On the sides of this hill, in the 19th century, lived a farsighted young man from the Santi family, who, among his many interests, has wine and viticulture as the first and most important. Since the basis for every good wine is the raw material from which it is produced, in this case the local Sangiovese grape, Clemente Santi gave priority to selecting the best Sangiovese found on his property.
The wine he produced in the mid-19th century was already of a remarkable level. As were the occasional bottlings produced a few generations later between the two wars.
These created the name and fame of Brunello di Montalcino which made it, together with Barolo, the most prestigious wine in Italy, a refined and expensive wine. A fame that has created great prosperity together with the notoriety that has now spread the name of wine to the four corners of the earth.
