LaLùci – Grillo DOC Sicilia

LaLùci is the Grillo of Baglio del Cristo di Campobello: a DOC Sicilia white made from 100% Grillo grapes, with an intense bouquet full of the scents of the Sicilian land.

This is how the winery’s philosophy describes it:

That which is forgotten is as though it never came to pass. All that exists is reminiscence – Lalùci – light that unveils and reveals. The primordial concept. The archetype. It is as it should be.

Territory and winemaking

The grapes are harvested between late August and early September on mainly calcareous hillside soils with dark patches, at around 260 metres above sea level. They are hand-picked into small crates; after destemming and crushing they are chilled to 8-10 °C for a short maceration. After soft pressing, the free-run must settles by cold decantation and, once fermented, ages on the fine lees in stainless steel for about three months, followed by at least two months in bottle.

Tasting profile

In the words of winemaker Riccardo Cotarella: “Intense aromas of yellow and white flowers that take on mineral notes, turning to citrus fruits, peach, pear and green apple.” Delicious now, it also keeps well for a couple of years.

Food pairing and serving

Excellent with fish starters and main courses, shellfish and risottos. Also a surprising match for lightly dressed pasta, eggs, delicate cured meats and fresh cheeses.
