ISOLANO - ETNA WHITE WINE DOC 2019
The coordinated image created by Dolce & Gabbana enhances the colors of Sicily both in the graphics of the label and box, and in the chromatic choice of the capsule and the grosgrain ribbon: the motifs and geometric shapes typical of the Sicilian cart, in which dominate the red, green, blue and yellow and the smoking Etna in the center. Imposing and solitary in its majestic grandeur, the volcano seems to float between earth and sky, between dream and reality, continuing to enchant with its genuine and authentically Sicilian beauty.
From Carricante grapes, harvested in the first decade of October, the Isolano is born, with a straw yellow color with golden reflections, the nose presents a refined bouquet with fragrant citrus scents, notes of broom in bloom and Mediterranean herbs. Isolano is a white wine of enveloping elegance which on the palate stands out for its persistence and extraordinary volcanic minerality.
At the table it is perfect with shellfish, vegetarian first courses, porcini mushrooms, fish dishes or white meats.
Denomination: Etna Bianco Doc.
Grapes: Carricante, a native vine and Etna identity, and small percentages of other native varieties.
Production area: Eastern Sicily, north side of Etna, in the territories of Randazzo and Castiglione di Sicilia. Etna is a mountain viticulture with vineyards located between 700 and 750 meters above sea level; the continental climate given by the altitude meets the Sicilian sunshine. In particular, this area north of the volcano is characterized by lower than average rainfall on the other slopes of Etna. Summers are cool, with strong temperature variations between day and night. The soils are sandy, of volcanic origin, rich in minerals; the vine is grown with the traditional Etna sapling system or espalier, on terraces contained by dry lava stone walls.
The vintage and the harvest: that of 2019 was a typical Etnean vintage with rainfall also recorded in spring and summer, quite usual for vineyards located above 700 meters above sea level; in particular, the rains between mid-August and early September enhanced freshness and aroma. On this side of the volcano the following weeks were dry, and these climatic conditions, together with the choice of some thinning, favored the desired ripening and the regular progress of the harvest. The Carricante harvest, with careful selection of the grapes in the vineyard, took place between 30 September and 10 October.
Vinification and aging: the fermentation was carried out in steel at a temperature of 14-16 ° C. The wine was aged for 10 months, partly in tanks and partly in French oak barrels, and then in the bottle for over 12 months before being released on the market.
Analytical data: alcohol 12.72% vol. - total acidity 6.1 g / l - pH 3.25.
Tasting notes: straw yellow color with golden reflections; the nose presents a refined bouquet with fragrant citrus scents, notes of broom in bloom and Mediterranean herbs. Isolano is a wine of enveloping elegance which on the palate stands out for its persistence and extraordinary volcanic minerality.
Longevity: over 10 years.
