Damarino 2022 Sicilian Doc White Wine Donnafugata

Damarino by Donnafugata, which is part of the Freschi and oiriginali selection, is a pleasant and informal white, ideal for Mediterranean cuisine. Fruit of a careful vinification of Ansonica (Inzolia) blended with other typical Sicilian varieties.

Light straw-colored, it combines delicate aromatic sensations of white flowers (elderberry) and fruity notes of peach and citrus fruit. In the mouth it is light with a pleasant soft finish.

NAME: Sicilia Doc Bianco
GRAPES: Ansonica prevalent variety; the blend is completed with other native vines
PRODUCTION AREA: south-western Sicily, Contessa Entellina Estate and neighboring territories.
TERRITORIES: altitude from 200 to 600 m s.l.m; hilly orography; clay loam soils with sub-alkaline reaction (pH from 7.5 to 7.9) rich in nutrients (potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, manganese, zinc) and total limestone from 20 to 35%.
VINEYARD: counter-espalier farming with spurred cordon pruning, leaving 6 to 10 buds per plant. Density of 4,500 - 6,000 plants / hectare, with yields of 80-90 quintals /.
VINTAGE: in Contessa Entellina, after two rainy years, in 2018 there were 743 mm of rain, a figure that is above the average * (667 mm) of this territory. Most of the rainfall was distributed in the spring; only in some plots there have been intense rains in the summer. The integrated management of agronomic practices, from pruning to thinning out to the choice of different harvest moments, inspired by an eco-sustainable viticulture, has allowed us to have healthy and well-ripened grapes. The grape harvest was thus in line with the company's qualitative objectives that are oriented to valuable productions. * (average rainfall calculated from the 2003 vintage and read by SIAS, Sicilian Agrometeorological Service)
HARVEST: Ansonica - prevalent variety in the blend - was harvested in the second decade of September.
VINIFICATION: fermentation in steel, at a temperature of 14-16 ° C. Aging in the tank for two months and then at least two months in the bottle before being marketed.
ANALYTICAL DATA: alcohol 11.48% vol. - total acidity 5.88 g / l - pH 3.25.
TASTING NOTES (12/21/2018): From light straw color, it combines delicate aromatic sensations of white flowers (elderberry) and fruity notes of peach and citrus. In the mouth it is light with a pleasant soft finish.
LONGEVITY: to be enjoyed within 2-3 years.
FOOD & WINE: excellent as an aperitif glass and with light seafood dishes. Serve in medium-sized glasses without flaring. Open at the moment, excellent at 9–11 ° C.
WHEN YOU WANT: to color your day an original and pleasant way. A small daily luxury. A discovery to share with friends.

DIALOGUE WITH ART: Damarino, in line with the image of the label, is a "lively and winking" wine. A vine shoot and its bunch, drawn on the face of a woman, a symbol of her femininity. A label born from the play of an artist, as surprising as wine. At Donnafugata the choice of a new label is an act of love that comes from the desire to surprise the consumer and to make the organoleptic qualities of the wine shine on the label itself. Indeed, the many faces of women on Donnafugata labels tell the emotions that a wine is capable of giving.

Please note: Upon shipment of wine and spirits are carried ONLY in Italy.

Ho scoperto il damarino in un mio recente viaggio in Sicilia. A Torino trovo solo le etichette più note di Donnafugata. Ottimo vino
